My Favorite Smoothies!

In the spirit of Valentines day I thought I share a few of my favorite Smoothie recipes that I just LOVE!  I’m very limited on my fat intake right now, getting most of my daily fat intake from meat, poultry and fish. So I have to get super creative to come up with tasty meals that are low in fat. Who’d ‘a thought you could get so much yummy variety from smoothies!

I’m almost 5 weeks into training for my fitness competition and so far I’ve lost 5 pounds, 4% body fat and 2 inches in my waist! It’s so motivating to see RESULTS! And I’m NOT starving! I’m consistently eating 13-1500 calories a day split between 6 meal times a day.

Red Velvet Cheesecake Shake

Ingredients 

1/2 cup Fat free cottage cheese 1
1 Scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder 2
1/2 tsp Butter extract
1 tbs Cocoa powder 3
3-5 drops Red food coloring
2 tbs Fat free cream cheese OR 1-2 tbs Sugar free instant cheesecake pudding mix
5-10 Ice cubes (Depending on how thick you like it, use less for a thinner consistency)
1/2-1 cup Water (Alter this according to desired consistency)
2-3 Stevia (or 1/4 tsp sweetener of choice)

 

 

Yesterday I woke up from a dream where I was chowing down on little mini candy bars. I think it’s a sign! I need a candy bar, so I found this Almond Joy Shake from www.ohsweetbasil.com . So delicious and satisfied my chocolate candy bar craving!

 

Almond Joy Protein Shake

Ingredients:One-of-your-biggest-mistakes-to-get-in-shape-is-skipping-on-protein.-Youll-lose-the-fat-and-tone-up-quicker-Try-this-almond-joy-protein-shake-ohsweetbasil.com-3

  • 1/2 cup coconut greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of sliced almonds
  • 1 handful of ice

instructions: add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. drink immediately.

notes you can leave out the milk if you want it more like ice cream

 

 

 

OK- I kind of saved the best for last. This was AMAZING! I never thought about putting cottage cheese in my shakes. It gives it such a thick and creamy consistency. So delicious! So who doesn’t love CAKE BATTER! Seriously, this tastes just like cake batter! Thank you fitness magazine.com!

Cake Batter Protein Shake

Serves 1

  • ½ cup lowfat cottage cheese
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (like Designer Whey protein powder)
  • 3-5 drops almond extract or butter extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free vanilla instant pudding mix OR 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3-5 Stevia packets (or sweetener of choice to taste)
  • ½-1 cup water
  • 5-10 ice cubes
  • Optional: Sprinkles for topping!

Put everything into a blender and blend, adding as much water and ice until your desired, creamy consistency is reached. Top with sprinkles if desired, and enjoy!

    I left out the name of the Valentines Smoothie! It’s Red Velvet Cheesecake! Yum!
